Most Schools have a garden, our garden has a school

At the Well, we know water is life and food is fuel and we use them as entry points to cultural and community wellness through sustainable urban agriculture practices. Standing on the shoulders of giants, we leverage our access to land and/or water to transfer resources through agrotourism into our community.

The Well is an example of resident-led design and when creating The Well, we used the principles of the Inclusive Places, Healthy Spaces framework developed by GEHL and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. You can find the case study about The Well at Oxon Run here.

The Well in Ward 8 is a one-acre farm and programming space within Oxon Run Park. This location is designed to yield seasonal crop production, a pick-your-own flower garden, a farm stand, an orchard with chickens, a greenhouse, herb and pollinator gardens, and a large youth garden with outdoor classroom. In addition to farm and garden activities, the space has hosted local art features and a community gathering spot perfect for theater and dance performances. This is a space for all ages and was envisioned alongside residents of the community.
